THE FINAL CURTAIN ON THE CAPTAIN’S CAREER? WE HOPE NOT

Leading your team out in a cup final is every players dream and Spartans Captain Louise Young is no different. Having been with the club since its inception in 2008, Lou is looking to get her hands on a trophy in what could potentially be one of her last seasons with the club.

After leading out her team in the last two league cup finals, Lou is determined to lift the coveted Premier League Cup at what is the third time of asking, especially after the determined and steely performance in the semi-final against Celtic.

“I am really excited to play in yet another cup final this year. Some may say ‘third time lucky’ for us but I know it will come down to hard work, commitment, determination and team work, rather than luck on the night! Read More........

Ton up for Di

Congratulations to Spartans Diana Barry who is the first player to play 100 games for the club. Di a Scottish International played her first game as a Spartan on the 10th August 2008 Spartans first competitive game away to Kilmarnock and has been an ever present in Spartans starting line-up ever since.

Di has a fantastic record for the club having played 100 games out of a possible 104 while scoring an impressive 123 goals along the way.

It has been a pleasure to have Scotland's Players Player of the year in 2010 at the club since it's birth in 2008, Di is a bubbly character who has a positive influence on the rest of the squad both on and off the park and is a great role model to the younger players at the club.

We look forward to seeing Di in a Spartans shirt for a long time as at only 25 she still has her best years ahead as a footballer.

Glasgow City 9 Spartans 0

Spartans were heavily defeated today by a rampant Glasgow City. City scored in the fourth minute of the match from a clearly offside goal which seem to set the tone for the rest of the match. Instead of Spartans rolling up their sleeves and battling to get back into the match they never really got going and were pinned back for long periods of the game. City scored with four stunning strikes from outside the box which didn't help Spartans cause. On the day a combination of a very good Glasgow City side and a below par

Spartans resulted in this poor score line, we are all disappointed with the way we performed. We will now dust our selves down and prepare for the Cup Final against the same opponents on the 30th May when we will be looking for a much improved performance.

Aberdeen 1 Spartans 2

Spartans travelled to Aberdeen on league duty and met a stubborn Aberdeen side. Spartans found it difficult to get the ball down and pass it on a bumpy pitch. It took until the 54th minute for Spartans to break the deadlock when Sarah Ewens from eight yards volleyed home a Diana Barry cross from the left.
Aberdeen then squared the match against the run of play when Rebecca Dempster fired home from the right across Harrington in to the far corner.

Di Barry then won the game for Spartans from the penalty spot after Sarah Ewens was brought down by the outrushing Lauren Sangster giving Morag Pirie an easy decision. Barry giving Sangster no chance from the spot.

Forfar spoil Spartans 100th game

Spartans met Forfar in what was Spartans 100th game but it was a disappointing result for the Ainslie Park side. In a hard fought match Forfar converted their chances while Spartans failed to convert theirs. With very little chances for either team in the first half it was no surprise that the score sheet was blank at the half-time interval.

Spartans lost Lana Clelland at half time with a wrist injury which was a blow as she had caused the Forfar rearguard problems in the first half.

It was Forfar who opened the scoring when Grant rose unchallenged to head home from a cross from the left. Spartans were pushing for an equaliser and went further behind when Forfar substitute Caroline Heron

lifted the ball over Rachel Harrison to wrap up the points for the visitors. Click here for Match Report....

DANNI PUTS PEN TO PAPER

Spartans are delighted to announce the signing of Danni Pagliarulo, who returns to the club after a two year break from the game. Danni played 39 out of 40 games for Spartans during sixteen months in 2008 and 2009 scoring 7 goals from her centre midfield role and once she is match fit will give the club a huge boost going forward. Danni is a really clever footballer and her reading and knowledge of the game along with a natural talent will be a great asset to the current Spartans squad. We have had a shortage of players to cover the central midfield role so far this season with injuries restricting captain Lou Young and Molly McKean's participation and we are looking forward to seeing Danni and Sarah Archibald competing for these positions and allowing players such as Lana Clelland, Bobbi Beveridge and Lou Magilton who have needed to cover these roles to return to their more natural positions. Danni was a member of the U19 Scotland team that qualified for the European Championship finals along with current Spartans Diana Barry and Claire Crosbie back in 2005 and brings a wealth of experience to the club.
