| CYPRUS CUP : SCOTLAND 0 ITALY 2 |
 |
26 February 2010
Spartans Hayley Lauder won her first full International cap against Italy, Diana Barry and Pauline Hamill were also involved.
Two late goals spoiled a solid Scotland performance in a game hampered by driving rain and strong winds.
Scotland were disciplined and organised, but neither side dominated during an evenly matched first half.
Italy looked dangerous going forward, but the Scotland defence, which boasted two changes from the opening game, was composed. Jennifer Beattie (Arsenal) replaced the injured Rhonda Jones (Hibernian) at right back, while Glasgow City’s Emma Fernon came in for Kirsty McBride (Hibernian) on the left.

24 February 2010
Scotland were beaten, but by no means outplayed in the opening group 1 match of this year's Cyprus Women's Cup.
With the game poised at 2-1 at half-time, Scotland were eventually undone by two quick second-half goals.
With top scorer Julie Fleeting (Arsenal) starting on the bench in her first match since the birth of her daughter, it was Celtic’s Suzanne Grant and Pauline Hamill (Spartans) who lead the line against a talented Netherlands side.

Game Off Game Off Game Off Game Off Game Off
Spartans new summer! season kicks off at 3:00 on Sunday with an away Scottish Premier League Cup tie against Dundee United at Downfield Juniors.
Debbie McCulloch Assistant to Head Coach Shelley Kerr is looking forward to the game-
"As always it is great to play the first competitive game after a long pre-season when the girls can put into practice everything they have been working on for the last couple of months. We have added to the squad during pre-season and there is now a real challenge for the players to stake a claim for playing time. We have a tough opener against a very good Dundee United team and we will have to be at our very best to proceed in the competition. The winner of this tie will meet Rangers in the next round and both ourselves and Dundee United will be desperate to reach the last eight."

| SPARTANS SIGNINGS FOR 2010 |
| Spartans are delighted to announce the signing of Rachel Harrison from Boroughmuir, the ex Scotland U19 Goalkeeper is a great signing which will provide healthy competition for the Goalkeeping spot at Spartans, something we have not had, all the top clubs have at least two good goalkeepers and we are are now glad to be in that position.
|
 |
|
Last season we had an outfield player in goals in 9 games out of 12 which never is an ideal position to be in. Rachel is a goalkeeper we have admired for a while and are really pleased that she has decided to put pen to paper.
Julie Melrose has returned to Spartans after a season with Celtic, Julie is a player with tremendous craft and ability who can make things happen in games, she will no doubt be a valuable asset to Spartans, there are not many players around who can provide the creativity that Julie can and the fact that she can also score goals from midfield is a great asset. Julie will be looking to provide a consistency to her performances this season that will be of great benefit to Spartans.
Chloe Fitzpatrick has moved to Spartans from Aberdeen, currently studying in Edinburgh, Chloe currently an U19 International brings great versatility to the squad, a tenacious and disciplined central midfielder who looks just as comfortable in any position will be looking to establish her place in the Spartan's line-up. Already throughout pre-season Chloe looks to be getting better and better.

|
Pauline Hamill has signed from Celtic and we are over the moon to have her at Spartans, one of the most talented players Scotland has produced it is fabulous to have Pauline's experience, professionalism and ability at the club. In past seasons we have probably lacked a bit of experience, Pauline is the most capped Scotland player ever with 128 caps to date and that in itself speaks volumes and a huge bonus to the club, as well as reaping the benefits from her own performances if some of her professionalism rubs off on those around her then everyone at the club has a lot to gain.
