Having been given the chance last pre-season to coach at the club, I am looking forward to using my experience gained over the years coaching in Newcastle, England and USA with professional team New York Red Bull to improve standards. Having worked with some very talented players in New York in their excellent player development system, I plan to transfer my knowledge to the players at Spartans and work closely with Debbi, Carson and Walter who did an excellent job last
season getting the players to a cup final and 2nd place finish in the fast improving women's league. I am really looking forward to being involved with the Spartans community and working at the great facilities the club have here".
Debbi stated "I'm personally looking forward to working with Mike, having this extra support for myself and the team in place is certain to have a positive impact on the club. Having worked previously with Mike at the start of last season his knowledge of the game will be a very valuable asset to the team for the forthcoming season".

Spartans Finish SWPL Runners Up

Spartans travelled to Glasgow to round off their league campaign, needing a draw and Celtic needing a win to claim second spot but Spartans went one better with a 2-1 victory which relegated Celtic to fourth and Hibs to third.

Spartans got on the score sheet first with just five minutes on the clock. Ewens charged down Fay's clearance and was delighted to see the ball end up in the back of the net for her 21st goal of the season. Spartans doubled their lead in the 37th minute when good combination play between Clelland and Barry set up Lauder who lifted the ball over the advancing Fay for her 19th goal of the season. Celtic pulled a goal back seven minutes into the second half, Brown cut in from the left and played in Arthur who finished into the far corner. The game raged from end to end without any further scoring. Celtic's young players were impressive throughout and clearly this squad will do well next season. Spartans can be well satisfied with

the second half of the season losing only one of their ten league matches to champions Glasgow City. Head Coach Debbi McCulloch stated "I am pleased with the whole squads quality, application and desire over the season and feel that they really deserve their 2nd place position".
