23 July 2010
Scotland will go in to their August Women’s World Cup qualifiers on a high, after a 2-1 win over Poland in Proszowice today.
All three goals came in the first half. Kim Little put Scotland ahead with an 11th minute penalty, before the hosts pulled one back less than ten minutes later. But Little sealed the win on the stroke of half-time, finding the net after getting on the end of a pass from Arsenal team-mate Jennifer Beattie.
National coach Anna Signeul took the opportunity to tinker with her side. Under 19 captain Rachael Small made her A squad debut, coming on as a second-half substitute at right-back, while Beattie, who has played across the back four and in midfield for club and country, played up front.

| NEW PLAYER SPONSORSHIP |
|
10 July 2010
Spartans are delighted to announce the sponsorship of midfielder Patricia McLaughlin, by Leith Garage 1994 Ltd.
Trisha is one of Spartans longest serving players having joined from youth football in 2005.
This is Trisha's sixth season but unfortunately due to injury Trish has not played so far this season, we are all hopeful that her knee problem is behind her and she will play a major part in the second half of the 2010 season.
|
 |

|
|
We have missed Trish's lightning pace so far and it will be good to see her flying up the wings again shortly. The partnership between Trish, Spartans and Leith Garage will allow Trish to concentrate solely on her development as a player at Spartans and she is delighted that Leith

04 July 2010
Congratulations to the first four Spartans to pass a half century of games played for Spartans FC.
Di Barry reached her 50th game against local rivals Boroughmuir when she capped a fine display scoring two goals on the Stadium pitch to take her total of Spartans goals to 59. Di added a further 6 goals before the summer break giving her a total to 65 goals in 54 games. Di is a natural goal scorer and will score many more goals for Spartans.
Hayley Lauder played in her 50th game in the League Cup Final defeat to Celtic on the Stadium pitch at the Spartans Academy. Hayley has now played 52 games for Spartans scoring 23 goals from her midfield position, having recently broken into the National squad it won't be long before Hayley makes a place on the left side of the Scotland team her own.
Reaching their 50th games for Spartans in the final game before the break were Siobhan Rooney and Spartans Captain Louise Young against Celtic at Lennoxtown TC. Siobhan is a fixture within the Spartans back four where she will remain for many seasons to come. Lou is a talented and experienced midfielder who leads by example on and off the pitch.

24 June 2010
Scotland lost their 100% record in the Women's World Cup qualifying campaign going down 0-1 to group favourites Denmark tonight at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock. A crowd of 1,542 witnessed Danish defender Line Roddik Hansen score from a free-kick in the 21st minute of the match. That strike was enough for Denmark to win the three points. Scotland will now look to reverse that result over in Denmark on the 25 August 2010.

13 June 2010
Spartans travelled to Lennoxtown on league duty with a depleted squad, Claire Crosbie, Sarah Ewens and Trish McLaughlin were unavailable, Pauline Hamill was out injured, however both Lou Young and Shelley Kerr despite carrying strains managed a part of the game each. It is therefore credit to everyone of the players who turned in a spirited and creditable performance. Spartans were to be undone by two first half goals the first a ball over the top of the Spartans defence which was converted by Kirsty McBride and the second when Jo Love turned neatly at the edge of the box and finished well. Overall Spartans had defended well in the first half and continued to do so in the second half creating a number of chances and finishing the game the stronger of the two teams but unable to capitalise on the chances that came our way the game ended 2-0 to the home team but there was plenty positives to take from the game.
