Aberdeen Win in Glasgow
Vale of Clyde Ladies 1 – Aberdeen FC Ladies 6Aberdeen pressed early winning a corner which Clyde did well to clear then broke forward to counter but the Dons defence mopped up the attack. The first clear chance fell to Stirling on the end of a long ball forward but Clyde keeper Coutts was sharp off her line to collect.17minutes in, pressure from Wright, S.Scott and Stirling eventually paid off as SCOTT collected wide left and sent an angled shot into the goal.Clyde had a free kick 30 yards out sent in long by Gumley but Gemmell conceded a free kick in the box killing the move. At the opposite end a free kick for the visitors from 40 yards out was sent in by Taylor, to Wright who sent in a curving shot but the keeper held well. Taylor again with a diagonal ball reached SMALL on the left who surged forward and calmly slotted a pass past the keeper for Aberdeen’s second.Clyde tried a long ball forward bouncing in the penalty box but the Reds defence were on top of things. A midfield ball to Millard on the penalty spot but Chatham closed her down and she placed it wide.Sweeper Young went on a mazy run from her own half rounding three players before shooting wide. Aberdeen went three up on 35 minutes, S.SCOTT receiving the ball; she twisted and turned to lose McLelland then launching a 20 yard shot into the net.Clyde pulled one back on 39 minutes with a free kick 30 yards out, McDonald taking it very early before Aberdeen were organised and it sailed high into the net. Aberdeen cancelled out Clyde’s goal a minute later, Fitzpatrick crossing in from the right for S.SCOTT to head in from 6 yards.Half Time :- Clyde 1 – Aberdeen 4Clyde came out battling earning a free kick which was delivered to the front post where Thompson sent it high for Chatham to collect. Clyde continued with long balls forward, Hendry with a half chance but her soft shot was easily held.Aberdeen re-shuffled, Campbell and Mackenzie coming on for Gauld and Taylor and Clyde pressed. McDonald had a half attempt which was saved as the home side pinned Aberdeen back for a spell. The re-shuffle seemed to have taken some momentum out of the Dons attack and for Clyde Millard and Mclelland were starting to put the visitors on the back foot with some forward runs.Aberdeen had a couple of chances, Stirling surging forward, the Clyde keeper charging out to the sideline to close down. Stirling dribbled past her and had a shot which went into the side netting when a pass might have paid off better. Wright latched onto a long ball forward beating the offside trap took a touch and shot, the keeper parried and S.SCOTT was on hand to finish the job.Campbell and P.Scott combined to get the ball into Wright’s feet her shot was cleared off the line by McDonald but Aberdeen collected the ball again and with 40 minutes on the clock STIRLING got the sixth of the game.
