England had to settle for sixth place at the Nordic U23 Tournament, going down 1-0 to Finland in the positional play-offs. Linda Sällström netted the decisive goal after 34 minutes.

The USA won the championship match with Germany 3-0, India Trotter and Ella Maser scoring before the interval, Maser adding her second midway through the second-half.

Sweden took the bronze position with two late goals against Norway. Lina Nilsson's 81st minute effort was added to by Alexandra Nilsson.

Scotland went down 5-0 to Switzerland and ended eighth and last in the competition.

England avoided last place in Group B at the Nordic U-23 Tournament in Sweden, with a 1-0 win over Switzerland. Charlton's Kimberley Dixson scored on the hour, claiming her first international goal. England will now meet Finland in the fifth-place play-off on Monday.

USA were 2-0 winners over Norway, comfortbaly topping Group B by five points. Ella Masar scoring after 14 minutes and Brittany Klein netting for the third match running, 14 minutes from the end. The USA will be up against Germany in the final.

Sweden twice led Germany but both times were pegged back, as the points were shared and Germany held onto first place in Group A. Linnea Liljegärd opened the scoring three minutes before the break, Bianca Schmidt levelling four minutes following the restart. Madelaine Edlund restored the lead shortly before the hour, Isabel Kerschowski completing the scoring with 11 minutes left.
Linda Sällström scored twice in the first 24 minutes, as Scotland were beaten 2-0 by Finland in the bottom of the group clash. The Scots now face the Swiss in the seventh-place match.

England went down to a second defeat at the Nordic U23 Tournament, losing 3-0 to the USA. Goals from India Trotter (38) and Kiki Bosio (47) either side of the interval put the USA in command, Brittany Klein sealing the USA's second victory with 11 minutes left.

In the same group, Norway shared four goals with Switzerland. A frantic period at the start of the second-half saw Ramona Bachmann give the Swiss the lead but Line Smørsgård and June Pedersen turning the game in Norway's favour by the 51st minute. However, Sandra Betschart forced a last minute leveller in the 2-2 draw.

Germany were 5-0 winners over Scotland in Group A, Bianca Schmidt bagged a first-half brace, with Isabel Kerschowski scoring inbetween. Kerschowski added her second on 76 minutes and Susanne Hartel wrapped up the scoring, as Germany maintained a 100% record.

Sweden also have two wins from as many games, after defeating Finland 2-1. Madelaine Edlund put the Swedes ahead only three minutes in and although Nina Hietanen equalised six minutes later, Emma Stålhammar hit a 61st minute winner.

A battling Scotland side lost 3-0 to hosts Sweden in their opening game of the Women’s U23 Nordic Tournament. Despite coming up against one of the strongest teams in the womens’ international game, Scotland put in a positive overall performance in their first ever match at U23 level.

Madelaine Edlund opened the scoring for Sweden in 37 minutes, with Nazanin Vaseghpanah (50) and Emma Stålhammar (59) getting on the score sheet in the second half. Scotland steadied in the last 30 minutes, and kept a very impressive Swedish side at bay for the rest of the game.

Head coach Ann-Helen Grahm said: “Despite losing the game we can be happy with the team performance overall. The players adapted well to the new team set-up and improved as the game went on. We were particularly pleased with the performance in the last 30 minutes.”

Scotland’s next game in the tournament is against Germany on 17 July.

The Scotland Women’s U23 team will join the USA and countries from all over Europe at this year’s U23 Women's Open Nordic Tournament in Sweden. 

Scotland have been drawn in Group 1 alongside Germany, Finland and hosts Sweden. Group 2 includes England, Norway, Switzerland and the USA.
