Raith Rovers v Glasgow City LFC - Sunday 15th. April 2007
Injury-hit Glasgow City suffered a blow to their championship challenge after drawing 1-1 at Raith.
“It’s disappointing to drop points,” says City boss Peter Caulfield.
“Raith were very strong and defended well. We’re just looking forward to the next game.”
Leanne Campbell scored from the spot for second-placed City and Katie Bennett was on target for Raith.
“We’re extremely happy,” says Raith boss Eddie Doig.********************************************************************************************************************************
Glasgow City - with a three-goal difference behind leaders Hibs - are determined to step up the pressure with a win at Raith tomorrow (sun). “There’s nothing between us and Hibs in terms of results,” says City boss Peter Caulfield. “It’s very tight and both clubs have been looking over their shoulders, to see if the other side slips up. But the way things have been going, it doesn’t seem like that will happen.
“Goals are important but we try not to look at our games that way. We just have to concentrate on playing well enough to win - if we do that, we’ll keep scoring goals in the process.”
Caulfield remains cautious, however, and says he’s taking nothing for granted against Raith, or against Kilmarnock in their Amicus Scottish Cup semi final on Tuesday.
“We’ve been hit badly by injuries and have another three players away at the UEFA European Women’s Under 19s in Germany,” he adds. “Last week we had 11 players for the game and this week it is the same.”
