Lochee v Hamilton -- 17th. September 2006
So unlucky...............................No pushoversLochee proved that they will be no pushovers this season as it took only a last minute goal to separate them from their experienced premier league opponents.Lochee were unlucky to go in 2-1 down at half time, dubious refereeing not helping the newcomers cause. Admitting to mistakes not helping the end cause, simply doesnt help. Past grievances dont help either meant to be professional.
2-1 until ten minutes to go Lochee desevedly equalised, but paid the price for standing off when a deflected shot ended up in the back of the their net in the last minute.

Lochee v Hamilton --- from an onlooker
I watched your game v Hamilton and it is the first time I have seen you this season. Just a few thoughts, take 'em or leave 'em.
Liked your team spirit and that is something that can't be bred. So with this you can build on what you have.
The general team shape was poor though and I know you have a couple of new players who still have to fit into your system. In any level of football there is no substitute for pace, and you seem to have a few players who have this although they seem to be playing in the wrong areas. Did you start with a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2 ? ( couldn't work it out) If it was a 4-3-3 then the girl at right midfield great first half) should have tucked in more central to allow the young full back (no.5) to get up the flank with the back 3 moving across when she did this .The right side looked pretty strong but they should take it in turns to attack in the wide areas. Your midfield 2 in the centre worked away well but I think you need to find a shape to allow your playmaker the space to express her obvious talents. The centre half looked useful (put in some tasty last ditch tackles) but the defence as a whole was caught square too many times. Hamilton were not a great side and were there to be beaten and the introduction of the 2 forwards near the end nearly paid off. Again the key was pace and they had no answer to it.
Why, when you had equalised and they had changed to a 4-4-2 system, did your coach not react by going for the jugular and change to a 3-4-3. This would have pushed your whole team up the park, it was clear that they were very slow at the back and any ball over the top was causing problems. Your front 3 for the last 10 minutes should have been (not sure if the names will be right here) Blyth, Denny and McCulley. The long ball over the top should have been the shout and you would have won the game.
Liked what I saw overall, but think you need more help from the sidelines to allow you to consolidate this year. If you can do this there is plenty local talent coming through from the youths and Lochee should be their first port of call. There is no reason why, in a few years you cannot be up there challenging with the likes of Hibs and Glasgow City. Keep the heids up! Enjoyed the game and ta!
