KILMARNOCK v FORFAR - Tuesday 8th. May 2007
Kilmarnock 3 v Forfar Farmington 0
Forfar made Kilmarnock battle hard to secure their victory with two late goals dashing any lingering hopes Forfar had of taking something from the game.
Kilmarnock always looked the more likely to score throughout and it’s credit to Forfar’s collective effort that the result was in doubt for 85 minutes. With both sides moving the ball well and switching play to either wing the following support were treated to an entertaining encounter. Forfar playing with the slope failed to make best use of the advantage missing several good chances and were shown the way to goal midway through the half by Toni Mason who raced on to a fine through ball and confidently shot past the helpless Fiona McNicoll.
Half Time 1-0
Nicola Davidson continued to drive Forfar on from midfield with another fine performance but Kilmarnock’s solid defence restricted Forfar’s opportunities in front of goal. With Forfar keen to salvage a point they threw players forward at the risk of exposing themselves to the counter. Kilmarnock prepared to keep their wide midfielders up were rewarded with their second goal when Toni Mason headed powerfully home from a corner. Salt was then rubbed into the wound when Fiona Woods made it three in the dying seconds.
