Hutchison Vale v Forfar - Sunday 25th. March 2007
Hutchison Vale 1 v Forfar Farmington 3Forfar came away with three points in a match which will not feature prominently in the annals of Women’s Premiership football history. Played on an extremely bumpy pitch which saw even the most accomplished players squaffing the ball, patience was at a premium.Hutchison playing with the wind stunned the visitors by taking the lead after ten minutes. From a cleared corner Jane Bruce slotted home a fine chip over the advancing Forfar defence to put the home side one up.Forfar’s response was immediate, from the restart Nicola Davidson gave a precision pass wide right to Alana Bruce who sped pass two defenders before unleashing an scintillating strike that gave Rachel Harrison no chance. Two minutes later Forfar were in the lead, Claire Galloway who’s presence and influence on the team grows weekly scored her first goal since her recent return to football with a well met header from a Nicola Davidson corner. Forfar continued to have the better of the game but failed to extend their lead before the break. Lynn Duncan and Alana Bruce saw shots go wide and but for a great block by the Hutchie defence Clare Garret looked destined to score.HT 1-2The second half in the main comprised of a series of shots going wide from Forfar and scrambled clearances from corners mainly from Hutchie. Forfar continued to have the lions share of possession. They made it 3-1 14 minutes after the break when from a corner yet another fine Avril Gourlay header ended any realistic hope Hutchie had of salvaging something from the game.Anyone got a roller going spare?
