Hibernian Ladies returned to winning ways at the weekend with a comfortable victory against Boroughmuir and in doing so remain locked on points at the top of the table with Celtic.

Hibernian started the match with purpose and they made an early breakthrough when Lisa Robertson opened the scoring on 11 minutes with a neat lob. The Easter Road girls managed two more strikes before the half time interval to kill the game with Alana Marshall and Joelle Murray finding the back of the net.

The rout was completed with second half goals from Stacey Cook and Joelle Murray - scoring her second goal of the afternoon. Despite scoring five times during the match, the margin of victory could and should have been far greater given the amount of chances that were spurned by the home side.

After the match coach Jimmy Burns spoke to Hibernian TV. He said: "I was pleased we managed to keep our momentum going, we created several excellent chances throughout the 90 minutes but we must be more clinical at times. I was especially pleased with the passing and movement of my players as we discussed this with them prior to kick off.

"Boroughmuir were a hard working side but we earned a deserved victory with our own performance. All the players are working hard to understand our formation and how best to cope with situations during the game. It is very heartening to see work done on the training pitch, and in discussion, resulting in good movement and goals on match day.

"We maintained a decent shape when in possession today and utilised the large pitch to our advantage. The surface at the Training Centre is excellent and suits our passing game; we tried to get forward as positively as possible and really should have scored many more goals.

"In the second half despite the majority of the play we struggled to get a rhythm again, this must improve if we are to get to the top of the Scottish game. The players need to show a real hunger and killer instinct whoever we play and try to score as many goals as possible."

Scotland International defender Frankie Brown has been in outstanding form this season and has filled in at the number of positions. Another player to catch the eye this term has been Hollie Thomson and Burns believes that it won't be long before she is joining Brown in the Scottish side.

"We took the opportunity to freshen the team up and brought Hollie Thomson into the midfield where her passing and vision helped dictate play. Hollie now needs to show consistency and determination and I am positive a National Squad position is hers for the taking. I would not want to single players out but I have been delighted with the form of Frankie Brown this season, she has played in both full back positions since I returned and has generally been outstanding, her athleticism and determination are a great example to all our players."
