GLASGOW CITY v NEWBURGH
Sunday 29th. October 2006
Newburgh travelled to the capital today for a tough league game with Glasgow City
Glasgow started the game passing the ball really well from middle to front with Newburgh countering on their every mistake. With City dominating the play for most of the first half Burgh started to come more into the game until in the 30th. minute City were awarded with a stonewall penalty. 1-0
Then within 5 minutes deja vou happened and a free kick was awarded just outside the box with City taking it quickly and taking Newburgh by surprise.
Half time 2-0
The second half started brightly with Newburgh camped in the City half and having 5 goal scoring opportunities but not taking any of them. Burgh battled on but couldn't keep City at bay when they scored their third and then their fourth.
In the end Glasgow punished Burgh when they had the chance - Burgh were just too naive in not defending properly.********************************************************************************************************************************
City retained the edge as goals from Laura Montgomery, Jayne Somerville, Katarina Lindner and Suzanne Lappin earned a 4-0 win over visitors Newburgh. “It was an outstanding performance,” says City boss Peter Caulfield. “We showed great qualities and didn’t allow them to create opportunities.”
