GLASGOW CITY v HAMILTON ACCIES - Tuesday 22nd. May 2007
Glasgow City emerged 2-0 victors over Hamilton Accies tonight at Glasgow Green in their third last game of a long season.
City boss Peter Caulfield made a number of changes from the cup final starting eleven as as Captain Laura Montgomery had to sit out injured and Leeanne Campbell and Danika Dalziel were moved to the bench. In their places came Kirsty McNicol, Diane Bruce and Marie Gemmill. For Bruce and Gemmill it was a rare start and both performed well despite a lack of first team action this season. On the field a number of positional changes were also made as Coach Kate Cooper and Manager Caulfield were clearly experimenting with possibilities for next season.
Overall it was a very comfortable win for City with the goals coming from Ruesha Littlejohn and Katharina Lindner. However, it was yet another game where City should have punished their opponents more for the amount of possession and chances they created.
City’s next match is at home to third placed Edinburgh on Sunday at Glasgow Green. With their still being the faintest chance of winning the League, City must guarantee a positive performance and hope that League leaders Hibernian slip up against Kilmarnock.
