Forfar v Lochee - Sunday 18th. March 2007
Forfar Farmington 2 v Lochee 1This match was no classic but derbies seldom fail to entertain with wholehearted commitment from both sides.Forfar started the brighter Lynn Duncan smashing a shot against the post in the opening minute. The early Forfar pressure was rewarded in the 11th minute, Tracy Brogan’s powerful strike finished off some excellent interplay between herself and Nicola Davidson. Lochee gradually got into the game after a slow start with their best chance in the first half falling to Diane Fyfe who shot wide from close range. Despite a good deal of possession Forfar were unable to extend their lead with both defences on top.
1-0 Half Time
The second half saw the tussle intensify, both teams battling for every ball. Forfar’s Lynn Duncan and Claire Garret both saw headers go wide as Forfar pressed for a second. However it was Lochee who equalised when Lorna Young, their best player, headed home from a corner adding insult to injury, Forfar having hotly contested the awarding of the corner in the first place.Forfar’s response was immediate, Katrina Pert making her debut in the premier league executed an exquisite cross which player of the match Tracy Brogan met at the far post to make it 2-1.With the lead restored Forfar never looked in danger of relinquishing it, seeing out the remainder of the game with further efforts on goal from Joanne Collier, Rhona Gordon and Claire Garret. On this occasion the result was more important than the performance with the 3pts ensuring Forfar maintain their upward momentum.
