Forfar v Hutchison Vale - Sunday 19th. November 2006
FORFAR FARMINGTON LFC 7 HUTCHISON VALE LFC 2Forfar Farmington Ladies recorded their second win of the season with an emphatic 7-2 victory over struggling Hutchison Vale.
The home team took the lead within the first minute, Lynn Duncan meeting a well placed cross from Alana Bruce on the half volley to give Forfar the perfect start. Playing with fluidity and width Forfar’s crisp passing game constantly exerted pressure on the Hutchie goal. Forfar’s Judi Phillips’ firmly struck shot was well saved by Hutchie’s Rachel Harrison and Tracy Brogan also hit the woodwork before Forfar extended their lead in the 18th minute when Tracy Brogan used her pace to nip in front of the keeper to slot away the second.
Hutchison Vale took the game to Forfar and from a corner forced a clearance off the line from Alana Bruce. In the 27th minute Caren Webster, who had an outstanding game, finished off a fine passage of football to make it 3-0. Playing free flowing football Forfar were carving out numerous chances and went further ahead in the 34th minute when Caren Webster followed up a half stopped shot from Alana Bruce. Caren Webster looked odds on to complete a first half hat-trick only to see her chip go narrowly over the bar. Two minutes before half-time Hutchie’s Anna Donald intercepted a clearance on the edge of the box and scored to make it 4-1 at half-time.
Within a minute of restarting Nicola Davidson struck a 30 yard rocket past the hapless Hutchie keeper, certainly the goal of the season so far. Some sloppy defensive work allowed Kate Fryer to grab Hutchie’s second (5-2). Player of the match Caren Webster completed her hat-trick in the 55th minute (6-2). Four minutes later Avril Gourlay’s well met header compounded Hutchie’s misery. Surprisingly there were no more goals but both teams continued to play openly and to Hutchie’s credit they battled to the end.

Forfar Farmington stunned Hutchison Vale 7-2 in the only Thompsons Solicitors Premier League game to survive the weather.
For Hutchison Vale, however, despite another loss, there were still some positives.
“Defensively, we’re still making errors,” says secretary Pam McGregor. “And in this league you cannot get away with that. We’re being punished every time.
“Still, we’re just glad to be scoring goals and believe we’re continuing to make progress.”
Hutchison Vale skipper Anna Donald and Kate Fryer were on target for the bottom-placed club.
Next week Hutchison Vale are at home to Lochee United and will be determined to press that advantage.
