Scotland held Finland to a draw last night in the second game of the double
header against their hosts.
Hibernian’s Kirsty McBride opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and Scotland
held the lead for much of the game, before Finland grabbed a late equaliser
through a Jennifer Beattie own goal.

Scotland Women were beaten 3-0 by Finland in Pietarsaari yesterday in the first
of two international challenge matches against the hosts. But head coach Anna
Signeul is optimistic going into the second game on 27th August.
Scotland created a number of chances in the first half, only for Finland to take
the lead just before half time through Essi Sainio after a quickly-taken free
kick.
The teams were evenly matched throughout the second half, but Scotland paid the
price for not converting their chances when Finland grabbed two late goals. A
corner in the 84th minute led to a Michelle Kerr own goal, while Tuija Hyyrynen
added a third in the final minute of regulation time.
Scotland head coach Anna Signeul said: “The result might not have gone in our
favour, but there are a lot of positives that can be taken from the performance.
We played some very good football, had lots of possession and created a lot of
chances. I’ll be looking for improvements in and around the boxes in the next
game, but overall, I thought we showed a great attitude, and we go into
tonight’s second game with a lot of optimism.”
The injured Julie Fleeting (Arsenal), Frankie Brown (Hibernian) and Natalie Ross
(Arsenal) will not feature in the second game.

Scotland Face Finnish Double-Header
Hibs' Brown wins Scotland call-up
Hibernian midfielder Frankie Brown has been called into the Scotland squad for the first time for two friendly internationals against Finland. Brown impressed in the recent Under-23 Nordic Cup tournament in Sweden.
Fellow Hibs midfielder Kirsty McBride returns to the squad after an absence to complete her police training.
Natalie Ross, the 18-year-old former Hibs midfielder, joins the squad for the first time since completing her move to Arsenal in the close season.
Scotland's matches against Finland on 24 and 27 August are designed to prepare the team for the Scots' crucial European Championship qualifier against Slovakia.
National coach Anna Signeul said: "We have a massive European Championship qualifying match coming up against Slovakia at the end of September.
"These two games against Finland will give us a tough test as we finalise our preparations.”
