SCOTLAND WIN OVER DENMARK

Scotland Women's Under 19's got off to a winning start tonight against Denmark at Kolding Stadium, winning 3-1. Scotland showed great form with two early goals from Lauren MacMillan in the 7th minute and the other by Ruesha Littlejohn in the 10th minute.

Denmark fought their way back into the game and Danish player Isabella Petersen scored in the 11th minute, however Scotland remained strong and Scotland’s Kim Little scored from a free kick in the 45th minute.

Under 19 Coach Tony Gervaise commented:

‘I am very pleased with the team’s performance tonight, we were very strong in the first half and Denmark came back at half time with tactical changes and many substitutions which Scotland reacted to well.’

Scotland will play Denmark again on Thursday 13 September at 11am (10am in the UK) at Vejle Stadium.

Scotland Under 19 Coach Tony Gervaise has selected the squad to travel to Denmark to play in a double header against Denmark at Kolding on Tuesday 11 September, Kick off 7pm (6pm in the UK) and at Vejle on Thursday 13 September at 11am (10am in the UK).

The matches are preparation for the forthcoming UEFA European U19 Championships taking place in the Ukraine between 25 September and 3 October 2007. Scotland is in Group 7 with Armenia, Azerbaijan and hosts Ukraine.

 

Tony Gervaise commented:

‘In the past Scotland has been successful in reaching the final stage of the competition and the current team are aiming high. The competition is an excellent platform to showcase the emerging young talent, giving them experience on the international stage.’
