Dalkeith made another long away trip to Thomson Park, Lochee, to meet the opponents of last weeks 3-3 draw - a tricky tie against Cowdenbeath. After a poor fist half performance which saw Dalkeith in the changing room 1-0 down, a rallying cry and fantastic goal from Captain Di Bruce saw the match levelled. Cowdenbeath cleared a corner but Player of the Match, Caroline Dick, floated a long ball over the defence where Bruce latched on to the pass, bursting the net with a sweet left foot volley from a tight angle under pressure from her marker. Extra time saw Cowdenbeath take the lead again and Dalkeith defending several corners. They were able to capitalise on one of their own, however, midway through the second half. A Linda McWhinnie corner was cleared back to her where she had time to pick out Kirsty Lawries run in the 6 yard box where the midfielder equalised with a super header. With only 3 minutes left on the clock, striker Susan Maxwell found herself clean through on goal but she was fouled 19 yards from goal. Linda McWhinnie stepped up and sent the free kick into the top corner sparking a series of wild celebrations from the Dalkeith squad and travelling support! With Inverness beaten by Dundee United 5-1 in the other tie, the final, which takes place at East Fife's home ground on 9th December, promises to be an exciting tie following the recent 1-1 draw earlier in the season.
