Victory in Czech Republic for WU19s

Women’s U19 International Challenge Match
Czech Republic 1 Scotland 2
T J Lokomotiva Praha

Scotland Women’s Under 19s put in an impressive team performance to win the first of an International Challenge Match double-header in the Czech Republic.

Scotland outplayed their hosts in all departments, dominating the game from start to finish.

Musselburgh Windsor's Kim Borthwick opened the scoring after 11 minutes when she got on to the end of an incisive pass from Hayley Lauder (Spartans), and coolly slotted the ball home after going one-on-one with the Czech goalkeeper.

It was Lauder who doubled the lead with a spectacular 55th minute goal. Jenna Ross (Rangers) showed great skill to stride down the right flank and cross into the box, where Lauder finished with an acrobatic overhead kick.

Andrea Bendova pulled one back for the Czech Republic in 75 minutes, but Scotland were never in danger of finishing the match with anything less than a win.

Coach Shelley Kerr said: “It was a tremendous all-round team performance, and we totally dominated the game. We were very creative going forward, and remained solid defensively.  I was particularly pleased with the number of chances created, and our deliveries from set pieces were excellent.”
