BOROUGHMUIR LADIES v FORFAR FARMINGTON LADIES - S.W.P.L. - Sunday 10th. August 2008
Boroughmuir Ladies 0 --- Forfar Farmington Ladies 0
Forfar’s trip to Edinburgh to meet newly
promoted Boroughmuir ended with both sides sharing the points in a game of few
clear-cut chances.
Forfar produced the first good opening only to see Tracy Brogan’s chip cleared
off the line. On the half hour Fiona McNicoll in the Farmington goal, made
an excellent save to deny Broughmuir’s Alana Marshall. Forfar’s best spell
of the game came in the last ten minutes of the first half. Firstly Caren
Webster shot agonisingly wide following some slick passing from Kim Thomson and
Emily Phillips, which opened up the home defence. Phillips came close herself
shortly after, only to see her shot go wide as well. A rare but well struck left
foot shot from Avril Gourlay brought a fine save from Muir keeper Linsey Wright.
For Boroughmuir, Kerry Montgomery and
Karen McKenzie looked lively, the former coming closest with a free kick, which
narrowly cleared the bar.
The restart saw the home side have their best spell of the game and for the
first ten minutes looked likely to take the lead, but their shooting was
somewhat wayward.
The introduction of just returned from holiday playmaker Nicola Davidson and
debutant from the Lassies side, Emma Percy, sparked some new life into Forfar’s
play as they pushed to break the deadlock. In the dying minutes McNicoll
was forced to make another good save as Boroughmuir strove to force home their
numerical advantage.
With both defences holding up well both sides no doubt will rue their missed opportunities but should reflect that the draw was the right result.
