Boroughmuir Thistle 0 – Aberdeen 4

Aberdeen travelled to Dalkeith to face high flying, Premier League newcomers Boroughmuir Thistle on Sunday and returned with three points.

Aberdeen had an early let off in the first 30 seconds as Mckenzie pounced on a weak pass from Gauld and fired a shot which keeper Taylor kept out with a fine save. The home side were pressing hard in the first minutes forcing a pair of corners and further saves.

Aberdeen replied, Wright bursting forward forcing the home keeper into a great save at the other end. The flat surface allowed the Dons to apply further pressure with some good passing moves resulting in the opening goal on 15 minutes when FITZPATRICK got on the end of a free kick in, controlled well and finished from close range.

The home side came out fighting and attacked favouring their right side, Mckenzie and Marshall creating some individual chances, while the Reds were spreading the ball around well with a balance through the middle and on both flanks.

Wright forced a corner with a solo run up the right wing ,dribbling past two defenders then firing a low shot which the keeper parried away. Then Small was the provider for another Wright shot which went wide. Finally the wee striker got her reward when the Dons made it two on 39 minutes, Fitzpatrick seeking out WRIGHT who chipped the keeper and shepherded the ball in as it ran into the net.

Half Time :- Boroughmuir 0 – Aberdeen 2

Aberdeen replaced Gibson and the injured Mckenzie with Scott and Morris at half time and pressed from the kick-off winning a brace of corners which the home side hustled away. Eight minutes in, after some Don’s pressure in and around the box Campbell fed a pass to WRIGHT and in typical style she got the better of a tackle then broke forward to finish.

Boroughmuir upped the pace with a chance as Wheatley burst forward only to be judged offside. Still on the back foot, Aberdeen were let off when Livingston fired in a low shot and despite a deflection, keeper Taylor managed to block low at her left hand side before it was cleared before another attempt went narrowly over the bar.

For Thistle, Nicolson and Marshall pressed forward well but the visiting defence worked hard at closing down as they battled to keep a clean sheet. On the attack again for Aberdeen Wright created more chances with a cross in and then with a solo effort which went slightly wide.

Djahansouzi replaced Wright and the danger now came from Morris with two chances but Menzies then Hamilton for Bourough executed a great tackles to stop each move.

Scott rattled the bar after a chase in from the left and then 27 minutes in SMALL made it four cutting in from the right and firing, the keeper blocked well but Small followed in to claim the rebound.

The home side continued to make things hard for the visitors fro the rest of the game without looking likely to score but did enough to keep the Dons from increasing their lead.
