Aberdeen FC Ladies 1 – 3 Lochee United Ladies - 13 September 2006
Oh Me Lochee Net 3
Aberdeen met Premier League newcomers Lochee United on Sunday as the Dons are still trying to find the winning combination of players following some squad changes in the summer. Lochee opened well, dominating the first five minutes of the game before the Dons finally made a trek into the opposition end forcing a corner. Lochee pressure continued paying off on fifteen minutes with a midfield pass to HOULISTON, who looked offside but broke forward, rounding the keeper and placing the ball into the net.
Aberdeen had a spell of pressure, first with a free kick 20 yards out. Lochee scrambled it out and Taylor sent a shot wide from 25 yards. A corner was dealt with by the well organised Lochee defence then Aberdeen broke forward up the right via Hamill and McLellan but Lochee defender Young was strong at the back mopping up well.On 29 minutes Lochee went 2 ahead beating the offside trap again laid through to a midfield run from DENNIE who ran forward and drilled the ball into the bottom of the net. A chance for Aberdeen, Corsie picking up wide left, she wriggled for space before firing but the Lochee keeper blocked well. At the other end Lochee, from a corner this time, forced a save on the line by Hutcheson. Aberdeen pulled one back, CORSIE picking up wide and charging forward releasing a high shot. The keeper got both hands to it but fumbled and dropped behind to trickle in. Within a minute though, Lochee kept their lead to two as right back McCULLEY broke forward from deep in her own half to go one on one with the keeper then round her before tapping in. The Dons were unlucky not to pull one back as Taylor passed inside to Anderson who played to Wright who jinked around before forcing the keeper to parry over the bar. Half Time Aberdeen 1 – Lochee 3 The Reds replaced Anderson and Farquhar with Stirling and Martin. Corsie and Martin immediately combined well on the attack to see Martin take a pot shot which went wide. Much more positive this half, Aberdeen were spent long spells camped in the Lochee half causing the Lochee defence to work hard. The visitors finally broke through as Houliston shot up the right, cutting in and firing but Hutcheson saved easily. Lochee were starting to get back in the game but the home side were still on top at this stage. Stirling forced a corner after sending a Lochee defender the wrong way and breaking forward. The corner was met by McLellan who sent it just over the bar. Martin picked up in midfield played back to Taylor who sent in a long ball to the back post which Corsie was unlucky not to get her head to. Aberdeen finished the game disappointed that the reshuffle had shown more determination but they had been unable to capitalise on having the majority of the play in the second half. Aberdeen Team :-Jo Hutcheson, Jenni Taylor, Susan Murray, Kelly Gordon ( Carolyn Hather), Rachel Corsie, Vicki Farquhar ( Claire Martin), Rachel Hamill, Adele Anderson ( Melissa Stirling), Paula Scott, Nikki Wright, Helen McLellan.

Aberdeen v Lochee - Sunday 10th. September 2006
A determined Lochee performance
Lochee travelled North to Aberdeen to play their second league game after a two week lay off. In retrospect all three points were won by half time with the score remaining the same at the final whistle. Lochee goals came from Ann Houlliston, Laurie Denny and Emma McCully. The first two goals were set up from great team play. The third the moment of the match came from the young right back McCully who scored a solo goal running with the ball from inside her own half before showing composure that a veteran like myself would have been proud of . What dreams are made of?
A great gritty team performance from the Premier League newcomers.
