Aberdeen v Hamilton Accies - Women's Premier League Cup - 4 September 2006

Aberdeen were bundled out of the Premier League cup in the first round on Sunday against old Scottish Cup rivals Hamilton Accies Ladies.

The Dons opened the scoring on 17 minutes in a move which started from right back Taylor to Anderson, she used Wright for a pass which was returned for ANDERSON to slot past the keeper.

Hamilton replied two minutes later, danger woman LIDDELL powering up the left on a solo run, cutting inside past Taylor and Murray before striking low past keeper Hutcheson. The visitors second came on 22 minutes, LIDDELL again collecting wide and opting to cut in early for a run down the middle before launching a screamer into the net from the edge of the box.

More pressure with a pass in to Malone this time shooting but Hutcheson got a hand to it for a corner. Aberdeen countered up the right, Taylor clearing to Stirling who passed inside where Hamill took it for a run before Hamilton closed down and conceded a throw. The Dons switched to the left via Corsie and McLellan who forced a corner

Danger again, the unmarked Liddell, now on the Hamilton right, received a long ball, strode forward shooting wide of the post. The visitors third came in 35 minutes, an attack seemed to have been snuffed out but a mix up between Murray and Hutcheson resulted in MALONE pouncing on a loose pass back and finishing well. Three minutes later Liddell in space again broke free on the right, crossing in to MALONE who squared into the net.

Half Time Aberdeen 1 – Hamilton 4

The Reds reshuffled at half time replacing Taylor and Anderson with Gordon and Farquhar but had the worst possible start as Hamilton scored 10 seconds into the half as a loose pass back  was again pounced on by LIDDELL for a clinical finish.

The Dons pushed from the kick off winning a corner, played into the middle and nodded down for Hamill who tried a left footer which was blocked.

Liddell, back on the left, continued to torture the defence breaking forward past Gordon before firing but Hutcheson managed to parry for a corner.

Aberdeen replied with a push up on the left from Corsie who passed to Stirling in the middle who charged goalwards to be brought down in the box for a penalty kick converted to Aberdeen’s second by WRIGHT.

From the kick off danger again, Liddell charging forward to collect a long ball behind the defence but Hutcheson was first to meet the ball at the edge of the box to clear.

It was not entirely one way, Stirling and McLellan combined up the right before crossing into the centre where Wright had two strikes at goal, the first blocked and the second caught by Hamilton keeper Johnson. Then with a free kick on the right sent long by Gordon and met by Stirling who headed over the bar.

Hamilton’s next came from a free kick, sent high into the box, keeper Hutcheson called for the ball but LIDDELL met it early and looped it over the keeper’s head into the net. The chances continued as Malone taking a run with the ball leaving Hather behind but Hutcheson this time got the better blocking her shot well.

Another let off for Aberdeen, a corner played in short bobbled about in the box before Murray cleared off the Aberdeen line.

Hamilton’s seventh saw LIDDELL run from midfield past a static Dons defence, she collected the long pass took it towards the keeper then slipped it past her for her fifth of the day.

A let off again with a wide ball to McLaughlin who twisted past Corsie before shooting just wide of the post. Youngster Corsie however got revenge creating a late consolation goal. She received on the left and forced her way forward getting the better of a couple of tackles before crossing to WRIGHT who nipped forward, cut inside the defender and placed a low firm ball into the net with 3 minutes of play left.
